IMPROVE SAFETY

As our top priority, we are committed to the safety of our customers and employees. Safety, including the security of data, are measured by the following key results:

REDUCE CRASH RATE PER MILLION VEHICLE MILES
(STAY BELOW 0.6246 CRASHES / MILLION VEHICLE MILES)

- Use a five-year rolling average with a focus on the following types of crashes: construction zone crashes; serious injury and fatal crashes; and fixed object/sideswipe/rear-end crashes.
The crash rate shown is the total number of crashes on the Ohio Turnpike mainline divided by the number of vehicle miles traveled. The quotient is then divided by 1,000,000 [One Million Vehicle Miles (MVM)]. The result is the crash rate per Million Vehicle Miles (MVM).

*2023 data will be updated in April 2024 once all 2023 accident data is finalized.

CONTINUE SAFETY PLAN IMPROVEMENTS

- Articulate and implement safety plan improvements in 2024.

REDUCE AVERAGE INCIDENT RESPONSE TIME TO LESS THAN 20 MINUTES

 - Average incident response time as measured in minutes.
Incident Response Time is measured from the time a call is received in the Ohio Turnpike Communications Center until an incident responder arrives on the scene.

REDUCE INCIDENT RATIO FOR EMPLOYEES FROM 3.75 OR LESS IN 2024

Incident ratio is measured by the number of Public Employees Risk Reduction Program (PERRP) recordable injuries and illnesses and the number of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recordable injuries and illnesses multiplied by 200,000* divided by the total hours worked by all employees.
*Represents OSHA formula, which is based on 100 employees multiplied by 40 hour week multiplied by 50 weeks (52 weeks minus two weeks of vacation).

MAINTAIN LOST TIME RATIO BELOW 1.00 IN 2024

Lost Time is measured by the number of lost time cases x 200,000*/number of labor hours (YTD).
*Represents OSHA formula, which is based on 100 employees multiplied by 40 hour week multiplied by 50 weeks (52 weeks minus two weeks of vacation).

CONTINUE TO ENHANCE CYBERSECURITY

Implement technical controls, security centric tools, practices, continuous training and resources for employees; and communicating suspicious activity to better protect Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission people, processes, and information.
